What do I do with my leaves? During the Fall leaf pickup season, leaves should be raked/placed by your alley or at the curb (but NOT in the street) so the City Street Department can use its Leaf Vac to clean them up. At all other times of the year, leaves, grass clippings and garden waste should be bagged (not to exceed 40 lbs.) Cut brush and limbs should be cut to no longer than 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter. Am I allowed to burn my leaves? No. It is against the law in the State of Indiana (also per Warsaw City Code) to have any open burn that does not contain only clean wood burning products such as firewood. |
When will my street be plowed after a snowfall? Streets are plowed based on priority and amount of snowfall. The City Public Works/Street Department strives to keep all thoroughfares clear, safe and open to traffic during snowfalls. Once the thoroughfares are clear and safe, then subdivision through streets are cleared, followed by cul-de-sacs, non-through streets and alleys. Can I have a fence or landscaping in my easement or the rights-of-way? Easements and rights-of-way are portions of land set aside to conduct repairs and perform maintenance on utility lines. Homeowners may place a fence or landscaping in the easements, but not in the right-of-way; however, the homeowner should be aware that these may be moved to allow for utility improvements. Who is responsible for mowing easements and rights-of-way? Homeowners are responsible for maintaining easements, which includes mowing. The Warsaw Street/Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the rights-of-way; however, if homeowners prefer to mow them, it will allow the Public Works Department more time to pursue other projects.
